Free UTM builder and campaign tracker: generate, save, and export UTM links

UTM parameters are the foundation of campaign attribution in Google Analytics. Without them, traffic from your ads, emails, and social posts all appears as either Direct or Referral: making it impossible to see which campaigns are actually driving conversions. This UTM builder lets you construct properly formatted tracking URLs in seconds, save them to a local campaign history, and export everything to a CSV for your reporting spreadsheets.

The tool runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server, no account is required, and your campaign history is stored in localStorage on your own device. Use the Bulk Builder to generate UTM URLs for an entire campaign across multiple channels at once, or build and save links one at a time as you set up each campaign. Everything is available to copy, export, or delete at any time.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1
    Enter your website URL
Type or paste the destination URL: the page you want to send traffic to, e.g. https://example.com/landing-page. The UTM parameters will be appended to this URL.
  2. 2
    Fill in the UTM parameters
Source identifies where traffic comes from (e.g. google, facebook). Medium is the channel (e.g. cpc, email, social). Campaign is your campaign name (e.g. summer_sale_2025). Term and Content are optional: use Term for paid keywords and Content for A/B test variations.
  3. 3
    Copy the generated URL
The full UTM URL updates live as you type. Click the Copy button next to the generated URL to save it to your clipboard, ready to paste into your ad platform or email tool.
  4. 4
    Save to Campaign History
Click 'Save to History' to store the UTM URL in your browser's localStorage. Switch to the Campaign History tab to view, copy, or delete saved campaigns, or export them all as a CSV file.
  5. 5
Use the Bulk Builder for multiple campaigns
Expand the Bulk Builder panel to generate multiple UTM URLs at once. Enter a base URL, then fill in campaign names, sources, and mediums across rows. Click 'Generate All' then 'Export All as CSV' to download a spreadsheet of all generated links.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are UTM parameters?
UTM parameters (Urchin Tracking Module) are tags appended to a URL that tell analytics platforms like Google Analytics where a visitor came from. There are five standard parameters: utm_source (which site sent the traffic), utm_medium (which marketing channel), utm_campaign (the campaign name), utm_term (the paid keyword), and utm_content (which ad or link variant). They appear after a ? in the URL and are separated by &.
Are UTM parameters case-sensitive?
Yes, UTM parameters are case-sensitive in most analytics platforms. 'Google' and 'google' would be tracked as two separate sources. Best practice is to use all lowercase and underscores instead of spaces: for example, utm_source=google, utm_medium=cpc, utm_campaign=summer_sale_2025. This tool does not force lowercase, so be consistent in your naming conventions.
Does saving to history send my URLs anywhere?
No. The Campaign History is stored entirely in your browser using localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your URLs remain private on your device. If you clear your browser data or use a different browser, the history will not be available.
What format does the CSV export use?
The exported CSV contains seven columns: Date, Source, Medium, Campaign, Term, Content, and Full URL. Each saved campaign becomes one row. The file can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application. Special characters in URLs are preserved as-is.
How should I use utm_content?
utm_content is used to differentiate between multiple links or creatives within the same campaign. For example, if you have two buttons on an email: one in the header and one in the footer: you could tag them header_cta and footer_cta respectively. This lets you see in Google Analytics which link placement drove more clicks without needing separate campaigns.
Can I use the Bulk Builder for different sources?
Yes. Each row in the Bulk Builder has its own Campaign Name, Source, and Medium fields. This lets you generate UTM URLs for the same campaign across multiple channels (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn) in one go, all pointing to the same base URL. Click 'Generate All' to see the constructed URLs, then export as CSV.
