How to create an invoice: step by step

   Fill in your business details
   Enter your company name, address, email, and phone in the From section. These appear in the invoice header and bill-from block.

   Add your client's information
   Enter the client's company name, billing address, and email in the To section. This populates the bill-to block on the invoice.

   Set invoice details and currency
   Edit the invoice number (default INV-001), select issue and due dates, choose a currency from eight supported options, and set the payment status badge.

   Add line items with quantities and prices
   Each row has a description, quantity, and unit price. The amount column calculates automatically. Click Add Item for more rows or × to remove one. Subtotal, discount, tax, and total update live in the preview.

   Download as PDF or print
   Click Download PDF to export an A4 PDF rendered from the live preview via html2canvas and jsPDF: no server involved. Click Print to send the invoice directly to your printer or save as PDF via your browser's print dialog.

The PDF is generated entirely in your browser. html2canvas captures the invoice preview at 2× resolution for sharpness, and jsPDF converts it to an A4 PDF. If the invoice content is taller than a single page, the tool automatically splits it across multiple pages.

Can I add tax and a discount to the invoice?

Yes. Enter a discount percentage (applied to the subtotal first) and a tax rate. Enable the 'Show tax line on invoice' toggle to display the tax row on the printed document. Subtotal, discount, tax, and total all recalculate in real time as you type.

How do I add or remove line items?

Click Add Item to append a new row at the bottom of the line items table. Click the × button on any row to remove it. There is no limit to the number of line items you can add.

What does the Payment Status badge do?

The status selector (Unpaid, Paid, Partial, Overdue) adds a color-coded badge to the invoice preview. Unpaid shows yellow, Paid shows green, Partial shows blue, and Overdue shows red. This is useful for distinguishing invoice states at a glance when sharing PDFs.

Can I save my invoice and come back to edit it later?

The tool does not persist data between sessions because it runs entirely in your browser with no server or account. To save progress, download the PDF before closing the tab. For recurring invoices, fill in the repeating details, download as PDF, and re-open the page to start the next one.

How do I add a logo to my invoice?

Click the logo upload area in the invoice header section. Any PNG, JPEG, or WebP image is accepted. The logo is resized to fit the header area and included in the PDF export. No image data leaves your browser.

Can I use the invoice generator for free as a freelancer?

Yes. The tool is completely free with no usage cap, no watermark on the PDF, and no account required. It is built for freelancers, contractors, and small businesses who need professional invoices without paying for subscription software.

What payment terms or notes can I add?
